About the monument

The monument represents one of the oldest Emirati folk arts that Emiratis have known for a long time, which is the art of Al-Ayala, an expressive performance art practiced primarily by males, of all age groups, in addition to the participation of a number of females called “Al-Naashat”.

The monument was designed with stainless steel with a polished metal finish fixed to a concrete base covered with marble; so that it can withstand for 10 years in the place designated for its display on Nami Island.

The monument consists of seven columns connected to one base, representing the interdependence between the seven emirates, where the names of the emirates were added to each of these columns by engraving in Arabic and English, moving to the part in which hand handles were added at the top of the columns that hold the sticks used in the art of Ayala, and they were embodied in harmony with the movement, to represent the morale performed by the rizifa, as well as a metal plate was added in the middle of the monument containing an engraved name for the United Arab Emirates In both Arabic and English, followed by the logo of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, and then  the QR code, which contains introductory videos about the art of Ayyala in Arabic, English and Korean.

The dimensions of the monument are commensurate with the rest of the artworks displayed on Nami Island by the participating countries and cultural institutes, reaching a height of 271.6 cm, a width of 225 cm, and a depth of 68 cm.
