This achievement is the result of the UAE's valuable efforts to revive this important performative art, highlighting its artistic heritage and promoting cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue.
Al-Ayyala reflects the rich cultural heritage of the UAE, embodying the values of honor and dignity central to Bedouin life. It reinforces the importance of dignity and pride, making this art a symbol of the UAE’s national identity and unity. Today, it has become a permanent feature of celebrations across the country.
Symbolism
The unveiling of the Al-Ayyala monument on Nami Island in South Korea marks a decade since this art was inscribed on UNESCO’s list. Over the next ten years, the monument will continue to contribute to the promotion of a vital aspect of Emirati cultural heritage to South Korean audiences. This launch also coincides with the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, underscoring the symbolic importance of the number ten, which adds further cultural significance to this milestone event.
